About Peace Valley Recovery
We’ve worked with many clients from Jersey City.
We’re located in Doylestown, PA, which is about an hour and a half away by car.
Our Facility
We wanted Peace Valley Recovery to be a place where our clients could relax, feel refreshed, and heal from addiction.
You’ll find that we’re appropriately named because the atmosphere of our campus is tranquil and serene.
You and your family will enjoy taking walks through our grounds as you take in all that nature has to offer.
Your recovery is important to us, and we want you to feel at home in a cozy, comfortable atmosphere that facilitates your healing.
Our Staff
Addiction recovery requires a lot of support. You need to know qualified professionals are on your side, ready to help you face the challenges ahead.
At Peace Valley Recovery, our staff is caring, compassionate, and prepared to offer you the support you need. Many of them have had their own experiences with substance abuse and addiction, either personally or within their families.
We know how brave you are for taking this important step for yourself and your family. We’re here to guide you through every step of recovery and want nothing more than your success.
Meet Lydia Spence
Lydia believes an integrated approach to therapy is the best approach. She strives for individualized treatment for each of her clients.
Lydia is experienced in both inpatient and outpatient care and has exceptional training in trauma therapy, self-harm, LGBTQ+ issues, and other areas. She has a comprehensive understanding of how mental health and substance abuse are linked. We consider her a valuable part of our treatment team.
Our Addiction Treatment Programs
At Peace Valley Recovery, we offer outpatient care for our clients. We’ll recommend a program that meets you where you are and helps you stay on track in your recovery.
Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
If you have successfully completed either a long-term or inpatient addiction treatment program, you’ll need continued support. Our PHP is the perfect “step-down” program, and it may be the right fit for you.
PHP offers a higher level of care, similar to what you experience in an inpatient setting. The program is very structured, and it involves:
- Daily group therapy sessions
- Twice-weekly individual therapy sessions
- A 5-day-a-week program for 6 hours each day
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Our IOP may be appropriate for you if you have completed an inpatient program and are ready to transition back into your everyday activities.
Intensive outpatient programs are designed to offer a bit more support than what you might receive during traditional outpatient therapy.
While you are a client at our IOP, you’ll participate in:
- A flexible treatment program with evening appointments available.
- Programming for either 3 or 5 days per week.
- Daily group therapy sessions.
- Individual therapy one day per week.
- Case management services.
Our IOP may be right for you if you work or go to school during the day. You will attend your appointments in the evenings, making it easy to fit treatment into your schedule.
Therapy at Peace Valley Recovery
The best experts in addiction treatment know that clients thrive when they have personalized treatment plans. That is what you will receive when turning to Peace Valley Recovery for help.
You are an individual with your own needs during recovery. We offer several therapy options, and you may experience a combination of:
- Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Family therapy
- Dual diagnosis treatment
- EMDR
- Music, Yoga, art, or other holistic therapies
Sober Living During Treatment
Many of our clients living nearby prefer to drive to Peace Valley Recovery for treatment. But there are some for whom this is a hardship.
We want you to get the best possible treatment you can, which is why we work with Candor House in Bucks County to offer recovery housing.
Candor House is an upscale sober living home that will offer you additional support while you participate in our program.
If you have concerns about your current living situation, sober living is an option to consider. Talk with us if this is something you’re interested in.
Use Your Health Insurance to Pay for Rehab
Many of the clients we work with know they need to go to rehab, but they don’t know how to cover the cost. If you have health insurance, you have benefits to help pay for your treatment.
Addiction recovery programs can be expensive, and we don’t want your treatment to be a financial drain. That’s why we are in-network with many health insurance providers.
Your insurance may even cover outpatient treatment in full. We do everything we can to make going to rehab more affordable for you.
If you have questions about your coverage, please talk with our admissions team. We will verify your insurance and talk with you about your co-pays so there will never be any surprises.

SMART Recovery Meetings in the Jersey City Area
Inpatient Treatment
If you have never gone to drug and alcohol rehab before, we recommend beginning with inpatient care.
Depending on the type of addiction you have, you may need to detox, which will minimize any adverse effects and withdrawal symptoms. That will be the first step.
Once you’ve gone through detox, rehab offers you regular group and individual therapy sessions designed to help you understand the reasons behind your substance abuse.
Inpatient care gives you stability, and it prepares you for what lies ahead during your recovery journey.
Outpatient Counseling
Outpatient therapy works well, but it should only be attempted following a successful residential rehab stay.
This level of care involves working directly with a therapist during individual sessions. Most therapists do not offer group sessions.
Your appointments may be scheduled 1-3 times per week, and Jersey City has many therapists specializing in addiction recovery.
